The Dr. Saul Recreation Center in Mountainair rocked March 3rd when Flamenco de Abó (with performers from the Mountainair area, Albuquerque and Tucson, AZ) danced and played before an  enthusiastic audience of more than 100 adults and children. A day earlier some of the troupe members taught Mountainair elementary school children the movements and encouraged their participation.

Annual Christmas Cantata — December 11, 2011
The annual Christmas Cantata, sponsored once more by the Manzano Mountain Art Council will be held at 4 pm, Sunday, December 11, at the Baptist Church, West Broadway (Hwy 60), in Mountainair.

The program, “The Sounding Joy — Listen to Christmas”, is a choral production written by Benjamin Harlin and Bryan Jeffery Leech.

Presented by the Mountainair Community Chorus, the 29 voices are under the direction of  Patty Mahoney. The chorus consists of members from Mountainair and the surrounding communities. Accompanying the chorus, will be Kathleen Ryan Clute piano and Jerry Melaragno on cello.

NM Dance Institute Residency — December 16, 2011
Each year, the Manzano Mountain Art Council sponsors a residency program at the Mountainair Elementary School  For several years it has been the Santa Fe Opera. This year we are pleased to announce that the New Mexico Dance Institute will spend a week (December 12–16) working with our school children.

The program culminates in a public performance on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. The performance will take place in the Mountainair Elementary School Gym. Please join us in celebrating our children’s hard work in putting this performance together for parents, teachers, and the community.

The Coronado Expedition, New Discoveries since 1992
Authors Richard and Shirley Flint will discuss findings from their latest book: "The Latest Word from 1540: People, Places, and Portrayals of the Coronado Expedition”.
